Hello, I am in the middle of an insurance claim on a 2007 Larson Cabrio 240. multiple points of light impact have warranted a total refinish of the hull. i am looking for a rough rough idea on how much that should be or how many hours it would take. i attached videos of damage which of course require or hours. I understand this isn't how you get an estimate, I'm just getting an idea. example, a good paint job on single cab 1985 c10 will run you anywhere from 10-20k now a days.

got pics, I dont download movies

from experience to do a complete gel coat on a 24 foot boat, you are looking at a significant amount of time for prep, then post spray work. about $300 in incidentals not to mention about $400 in gel for white and 904 addititve

exactly like the single cab C-10 you mentioned 95% labor, 5% purchased content

if you have to refinish the whole hull......
  • that means de-rig the surfaces getting refinished - removing drive/hardware, etc
  • remove all traces of caulk by scraping, etc
  • repair any damage. fiberglass work, fairing, etc
  • mask off everything you dont want covered in gel
  • sand the surface to be gel coated. Gel likes an 80 grit surface
  • clean the surface with acetone
  • clean the surface again
  • roll the boat into the spray booth
  • support the boat as needed. may need to adjust cribbing a few ways
  • redo the non-skid as needed
  • spray 2-3 coats of gel
  • allow to cure
  • start sanding starting with 220 grit working up to at least 800 grit
  • start buffing
  • continue buffing
  • clean the hull
  • re-rig the boat
  • re-caulk everything
  • wax the boat.
the exterior of my hull (link in sig) from the rub-rail down was probably 400 hours of work grinding out each of the spider cracks, sanding down, fixing gouges in the keel, removing bottom paint, etc. the deck surfaces above the rub-rail were probably 120 hours. The interior was another 80-100 hours.

actual spray time was probably an hour or two total.

sanding and buffing post spray was probably 20 hours.

Thank you for the detailed reply. Appreciate the info. I'm getting my ducks in a row to battle with the insurance company on total loss numbers.

with the insurance companies, its all numbers.

if the repair costs more than x% of the boats value, its a loss.

most hull repairs done at a licensed/insured marine repair facility easily exceed the value of a boat.
