Gear oil in drive shaft bellows?????

I have a 1986 sea ray mercruiser outdrive. I was getting gear oil in the bilge. I thought the gimbal seal was bad, I know bearing is bad. Took it apart and the drive shaft bellows had alot of gear oil in it. My understanding is there should be no oil in the bellows. Therefore I suspect the inner shaft seal is bad. Am I correct?

I bought a perma lube gimbal bearing. I shouldnt have to replace the gimbal grease seal then correct?

upper carrier seal is leaking, grease seal is almost a non issue these days. item 20 in here Sterndrive Exploded Views A : MerCstuff.Com
