I found this setup of a gas tank and battery but am unsure if this setup would be ok. I got it off of a texas flats boat but don't want to mess it up. If it does work ill be making my own version of the console basically to make it smaller. If their are any suggestions let me know. Thanks guys!

Re: Gas tank and battery question

So what's the issue? You can mount a battery and fuel tank in virtually any configuration you want. But if you intend to modify this configuration, why do the "fuel gauge with a stick". why not install a tank that has a fuel gauge sender port on it and install a fuel gauge at the helm. Install the battery in a ventilated box and go boating. Depending on the amount of air circulation in this configuration, it might not be a bad idea to incorporate a 12 volt exhaust fan to ventilate the helm.

Alright thanks for the response. The reason I asked was because I went to a west marine store and the Guy told me the setup put the battery to close to the tank. But thanks for the clarification. Oh also I will have a fuel gauge sender instead of the original config.
