gas pig?

i have a gas question, my 1986 campion allante 16' with 1986 evinrude 115 is burning an average of 15 liters an hour. it starts right up and runs good but i started to smell fuel and see a "stain" in the water but no fuel in engine cover? any advise would be GREATLY appreciated

i wish i could get a 115 to burn 4 gallons an hours. you must do a lot of idling.

check you plugs, and spark, the stain is unburnt fuel, and oil. you may be good to do a decarb, to get the excess carbon out of the motor.

that sounds about right to me. i'm know expert but i have twin evinrude 140's on a 24' grady White and get about 1.5 miles per gallon

If in proper running condition, that engine will burn 11.5 gal.per Hr. at wide open throttle. Boat's never coast, they have to be pushed every foot of the way.

wow! so i guess it was running super good before and the fuel burn is still pretty good if the engine will burn 11.5 gallons at WOT i guess it needs a decarbonization and check plugs wires and stuff like that. the boat is very light it is the sister to the glastron cvx16. i was thinking of cleaning the carbs and maybe buying a set of aftermarket reeds? have any of you had bad things to say about diff reeds on 115? or similar experience would be great

with the consumption you are getting why would you consider changing the reeds, sounds as if they are doing quite well. don't fix something that ain't broke.

i though they give better low-mid range power? i use the boat for water skiing and it has lots of power but i here they help out of the hole throttle response?
