I got a Garmin 160 Blue for free brand new in the box for my 19ft Carolina Skiff and decided to install it. The transducer has the optional speed sensor on it. Once mounted per the instructions in the box, it reads speed and water temperature fine, but only reads depth sometimes.
At first it would only read the depth if you were going less than 5mph, but now it doesn't even register depth at all...even when the boat is anchored. I've double and triple checked to make sure the transducer was far enough away from the prop (it says no less than 3 inches from the prop at full turn of the motor...mine is about 7inches). The speed and water temperature always works.
Any inspiration, or ideas to try to get this thing to register depth? Thanks in advance for any replies.
