Hello everyone! I just bought a Gale Buccaneer motor with a serial of 0655245 and that made it seem like a 1957, but the chart I saw was a bit confusing so I figured I’d ask here to confirm that and see if there are any good resources for parts/info on this model? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Welcome to iboats

Any Model #? Usually located between the Transom Brackets/Clamps

The PDFs can be downloaded
I’m not sure I’m finding something exactly where you’re saying, but I did find this number close to where I thought you meant. Looks like 376911 to me. I’ll upload a couple pics but it’s on the underside of the motor housing near the mount and clamps.

The model number on these older OMC motors was usually found on a Plate attached to upper side of tilt bracket, the where the yellow arrow is pointing. It is kind of hidden by the engine cowl pan

Thanks for your help! I’ve looked all through the area you pointed to and I’m not seeing anything attached with any writing on it unfortunately. I took a different picture of the spot you pointed to in case you see something I don’t or see that it’s missing. Are there any other spots to check? Or other ways to find out if it’s not here?

That canyon behind the Lock mechanism... It would have covered it, see the 3 rivet holes...

A racer said, most Evinrude/Johnson parts will work

Gotcha, well I guess I’m glad I’m not just blind. Haha The way the motor housing is shaped and painted made me think it was a ‘56 but I also saw a chart which made it look like number-wise it would be closer to a ‘57. Does that seem reasonable? Are there any other things I could take pictures of or check out that might help narrowing it down?

Well, certainly looks like a 1955 25hp Evinrude/Johnson. That would be my choice when trying to get parts

Awesome! Thanks so much for your help and being so quick to respond! I’m usually pretty good at googling, but I was having a tough time finding much about this!

I will clarify my Post
I said it looks like a 55 25hp E/J motor, not that it is.

That makes sense! I’ll take a picture of the cowling once I get home in about a half hour or so!

I took the cowl apart already to clean it and here are the 3 parts of it.

Post picture of the cowling !
Sorry I didn’t post it as a reply to your post, but I did upload a pic of the 3 parts of the cowling! I can take better pics or from different angles if you think that’ll help figure out the year and all that.
