Here's a "hot" item: Burned boat for salvage or rebuild

View attachment 191487

20' Cobia center console without trailer, boat caught fire and completely destroyed in said fire. You'll have to retitled it as salvage and replace a few cosmetic items and this would make a great family fishing toy. I'm asking 5K for it as is and no warranty given or expressed otherwise. I'll consider trades like alate model pick-up, ATV, jet ski or boat of similar size. $5,000.00 OBO

It could be on the water in one day. But, it might not float.
Yeah, come to think of it, he didn't say it would be on the water for a day . . .

At least the bow is in a good position to promote some drainage. Might not be completely worthless. Usually we see them jack sunk into the dirt (bow down) and parked under a tree! And about 10X the price :) But the TX/ NJ registration is a little fishy...

i dont even know what to say about this one.

Great deal! Cheap! orange boat

has small hole that needs fixed in the side super easy just fiberglass

He pretty much sum up all those kind of ads! He even put the "Ran great last year" for a leaves covered boat with rotted tires on the trailer...

I sometimes wonder if they follow this thread and try to put as much "classic" lines as they can in their ads...

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

I'll never forget my first boat,. I saw an ad for a "free boat with trailer". "Good condition", "solid hull", just needs interior work. It needed interior work alright. The boat sat ourside in this redneck's back yard for 10 years....with the bow of the trailer in the mud. There was no way to lift it up because the boat was full of water. Had to use a jack to get the tongue out of the mud, and hooked up to my chevy 1500. It put the rear end of my truck all the way down, it was so heavy. Got all the water out and found out there was nothing left to the interior. The floor was gone, hardly anyhing left to the stringers. The HUGE 100hp johnson was left uncovered forever. Steering cable was froze. Controls were a big pile of corosion. I don't know what held this boat together. This was 15 years ago, I was a dumb 18 year old so I thought it was a good deal. You should've seen the look on my father's face it was priceless.
Somehow I did end up getting the motor fired up but after that I gave up. A few talking to's from the old man made me realize that it was impossible to get the boat sea worthy.

Then there was my next offer. I saw an ad for a 21 ft cabin cruiser. I think it was a 1987 something with a v8 mercruiser. The guy wanted $3500 for this heap. He might was well have thought the boat was made of gold. This boat sat outside for over 10 years, uncovered. While the boat was solid, it had plantlife growing out of every possible corner. A little tree started growing out of the cabin and pushed the bow hatch open. He didnt know if it ran. Tires shot. It still sits there to this day. Some people amaze me with what they think is "good condition".
