I believe the fuel pump on my 1956 Fastwin 15 (model #15016) is shot. Does anyone know if they still make rebuild kits for these old pumps or if I just have to buy a new one? I checked here at iBoats and I didn't see anything listed for motors that old.

Re: Fuel Pump Kit

That engine didn't come with a fuel pump, someone converted it. If you don't know which pump it has you might have to install a new one.
Is there any numbers on it?

fuel pump or pressure tank?

It is a fuel pump.

That's what I thought. The only number I see on it is 304089 and 304091. If I get a new one, which one do I need?

Here are some pictures of what came off of it, the red arrows indicate where i found the numbers:

Also, I have a feeling I may have dropped something when I took it off, Everything I have with the exception of 1 spring and a little metal cap which is behind the diaphragm is in this picture. If anyone with more knowledge than I sees anything missing, please let me know.

Re: Fuel Pump Kit

UPDATE: It appears they do not make a rebuild kit for these, at least not that I can find anywhere. So I guess my next question is: What replacement pump do I need?

Can you post a picture of where and how the pump attaches to the engine?

looking at diagrams at marineengine.com...1960..18 hp. fuel pump looks like the one in your pic...check it out and if it is, it calls for a brp 0388685 replacement...cross reference that for a sierra pump at probably half that price...that pump is used on many models hp.wise for many years

Thanks for the pointer. Holy cow, those suckers are $90, that's more than I paid for the motor. What's worse, is it doesn't appear Sierra makes a direct replacement for 388685. I have seen a little discussion about others wanting to use Sierra pumps 18-7350 or 18-7351; however, I haven't seen a definitive answer as to whether either of these pumps will work on my motor. Does anyone know whether either of these or any other sierra pump will work on these motors?

Re: Fuel Pump Kit

you can tap the pulse hole for a nipple then buy a mikuni pump for $20.00, or a briggs & stratton for 15.00
