Hello all, new to the forum. Have a 1998 Seaswirl 250 with a 5.0 GL and a failed fuel pump this fall. Part number 2589B...I can't find anything comparable, do not know whether it is high or low pressure pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated, also where the devil does one purchase an owners manual with schematics???

Welcome
Need your full model number or serial number, because a GL normally only has a low pressure pump and uses a Carb.

What problems do you have?
Motor will or will not start, running bad, have spark

That number doesn't work for some reason
VP Lookup

Is your motor a GL- A, B, C, D etc?

The GL motors use a fuel pump relay and the relay is powered during cranking from the key and once running it gets power from the Alternator. Each feed has a diode inline and if it does power up while cranking then it can be the relay or the diode

The pic below is for a GL-C/D.
See item 23 which are the diodes. Use a voltmeter or test light to see if your getting power to relay while cranking

Can also remove the relay and use a jumper wire and jump the Red/Purple wire connection to the Yellow/Red wire

Thank you for the response, it is a GL but I have no idea how to identify A B C etc. The fuel pump does come on for a short time, a faulty relay should not allow this...there is no heat on the relay. Attached photo

Being a VP/OMC I'll take it as a first Gen GL-so make it a A model

This is a low pressure pump and original part number appears to be replaced by 856955. Sierra 18-7326 and you might find others looking. Search for VP low pressure fuel pump

With it running for short time and still nothing being pumped, check your antisiphon valve on the tank, fuel line and filter to make sure it's not clogged

This is a motor issue not a problem to the Seaswirl so moved thread to VP motor section to get more eyes on it.
