Either the air motor is bad on VRO or crankcase pressue is low due to worn cylinder and piston skirt. Common problem on older models...

first try a remote tank and see what happens. Then check fuel line from the main tank and the vent line.On the vent can you blow back into the tank.Sounds like a blockage to me.

You might check the vapor pump as well.

Pull the fuel lines off of the carbs, pump the primer bulb and see if you get fuel out of the lines. No fuel, problem in system. Fuel, problem in carbs.

do you smell gas?

i had a similar thing happening and id have to squeeze the primer bulb 5 times to get out of the harbor.....the big hose that went to the PULSE valve under the fuel component bracket was cracked....I didnt find it until I decided to replace the fuel pump.... i replaced the pump anyway and fixed the hose....but I suspected the fuel pump was still good....

so it was either the fuel pump or the hose on my problem

if you have an air leak you could be losing prime

since your motor starts, then dies, i wouldnt suspect a stuck float in the carb

good luck

No i dont smell or see gas coming out

id start looking at all your fuel line connections... you might be losing prime,(because of an air leak) or you have a bad fuel pump.... you are running your motor on the initial prime when squeezing the bulb, but once the carbs run out of that fuel the motor dies.....no more gas is flowing to the carbs..

you could hook up a temporary auxilary gas tank and plumb it direct to the motor...( making sure all the connections from the cowling entry to the fuel component bracket are good...

if it still happens you have narrowed it down to the fuel pump or the fuel component bracket assembly some how...it takes time and patience to solve these issues sometimes

Put a cheap pressure gauge on the fuel pump pulse line --crank motor and observe the gauge.-------There could be issues with crankcase pressure pulses.

It is quite simple to take the VRO pump apart and inspect it.---That might be the cheapest repair.
