Fuel Line handling?

Ok, so what do people do with their fuel lines when restoring?

Mine run from the fuel tank below deck to the filler at the top of the swim platform. The below deck area is going to be flooded with expanding foam. Do you just let the foam encase the line or build a tunnel for the fuel line to run through, and let the foam fill around it?

Ah, that's what I was thinking!

Yes, conduit of a sufficient size . . . Often you will see 2" PVC pipe or larger. If you need conduit for other things like control cables, wiring, etc. install a separate conduit for that.

My boat was originally constructed with the rubber fuel hose just foamed in place - horrible if you ever need to replace it in the future. On my resto I used grey PVC conduit with large sweeping bends to make a pipe through which I could route my fuel hose and ground wire.

Well, great. I just did it, came out nice, but I used 3" pvc, certainly not going to be able to replace with a leisurely hand feed. Between the 2" fuel line and breather line, it all fit fine, but is too tight for a gentle hand feed. It's new line (at least when I bought), so should last a while.

The biggest problem with my old line, is the idiot who laid it down turn 90 degs and kinked it. I always wondered why it was so hard to fill the tank, that is until I tore up the deck. See pic.

Whenever I get on one of these DIY type forums, I inevitably see someone write "Hire a professional". Well, for me it usually is the "Professional's" work that I am fixing.

i use blue smurf pipe for single wires and flex pipe for things that need flexibality and pvc for strait runs like to cc i will take some pics and post them here it is noce being able to just pull a defective wire out of a chase and replace it

oh and coat the lines with silicone spray it will prolong the life of thge rubber as ozone breaks down rubber not just sunlight so by rubbing them down with silicone before install it ads some years of service i spray my belows as well with silicone to keep them from drying out as well .
