Found a new problem with my 91 bayliner capri. Last night while put on the water, boat ended up shutting down. Fuel gauge said half tank, so didn't think it was fuel related. Luckily was out with family in their own boat so got towed in and loaded on trailer. Decided to put some more fuel in it this morning to see if the gauge was working properly. Tank holds 20 gallons and only got 9 gallons put in when filled up. Brought the boat home and got her cranked up. While it was running I was looking at quite a few spots as I smelled a heavy fuel smell. I noticed that on top of the tank where the in tank pump (I believe it is) is leaking out one of the top screws. Assuming last owner or whoever put it in, over tightened it and stripped it as the screw will not tighten fully. It is a plastic tank unfortunately. Is there a way to repair it without having to cut my boat up to get to the tank and fully replacing it?

Resize all the holes for 1 or 2 sizes larger screws. Holes in plate and drilled and tapped plastic tank ones. A new gasket .
