Fuel Capacity

I have a 1976 Apollo Tri Star 17' with the Merc 165hp L6. Just got it late last summer. I've never run it empty and filled it up. My guess is it holds 20 gals but just curious if anybody with a similar boat knows what the fuel cap is. Thanks.

Could be anywhere between 14 and 30 gallons.
Can you get to it to measure it, then calculate the volume?

Can you get to the sending unit>
Usually a certification plate or stamp in the tank, that also states capacity.

On a boat that old, you might want to get to the tank and inspect fittings, hoses, and clamps.

That should be ok .

My 17 ft had a 18 or 20 gal tank, my 21 has a 37 gal tank.
