Fuel Ball hard before start

My fuel ball is hard before start. Is there something stuck in the tubing? Any suggestions? It should progressivly get hard when I pump fuel into the engine. I also have been cracking the gas can so I dont think its back pressure

I had one that became stiff w age and very hard to prime. At first it was only when it was cold 30-40s, had to stand on it! and slowly prime several times waiting for it to refill. eventually it stayed stiff when it was 60/70+ outside. The one I replaced it w is much better and feels more like rubber than the stiffer, plastic feeling old one.

That is your question, is it hard because it is full of fuel or just hard because it is old, I think I woudl get a new one and go from there, my only though was that the tank vent wasn't working but you said you vented the cap.
