Re: fresh vs salt
Well, this thread has been a lot of fun and games, which is very much deserved with the great guys I hang out with here. And yes, there are a LOT of great guys here who are willing to help anyone in need or help and advice. These guys are the best.
Well, since I started this, I'll finish it with the best advice possible. svxtech put it right as far as finding a lower unit with stainless steel parts installed. What is really important though, when you're in the market for buying parts....or lower units, make sure that you try and find something that hasn't had to many visits to the beach. While the visits to the beach for a lot of us is great, especially when we grab a cold 12 pack and make a run for it, it definately isn't for anything that is constructed of anything steel or aluminum. Steel and aluminum parts just aren't made to hold up to swimmin' in the beach, like us white skinned, two legged, beer guzzling, rip snorting people are.

So be careful about buying or replacing parts. Look at the hardware that holds it all together carefully and make sure there is less corrosion and rust holding it together than the proper metal alloy. LOL
I hope this helps and I hope to all the funny guys here have a wonderful Thanksgiving with their beloved families, and that goes to you too, nufish.
