Re: Freecycle

Here ya go ndemge.

Internet group helps to recycle items

There's something going on in the Tri-State that I think people should know about. I know we have all been to a landfill and seen all the stuff that gets thrown away.

What if we could keep some of that stuff out of the landfills? Sounds like a good idea to me, so I want to introduce the Tri-State to a program that's now worldwide. It's called the freecycle network. Our motto is, "Changing the world, one gift at a time."

Let me direct you to the main Web site, www.freecycle.org.

There you can read what it's all about and then you can find a local chapter (group) to join if you wish. Everything is free.

You have some stuff in the garage or basement that is just taking up space? Offer it and I bet you someone in the group can use it, be it baby clothes, old lawn mowers, dishes, etc. It can be anything as long as it's free.

Need something? Put out a wanted notice. It's that easy. You would be surprised at what people have lying around.

We have groups in Boyd, Greenup and Carter counties in Kentucky and many in Ohio and West Virginia.

I hope that some will take advantage of this, it's really a great way to "freecycle.

The addresses for the Boyd, Carter and Greenup county groups are as follows:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BoydCountyKYfreecycle/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CarterCountyKyFreeCycle/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GreenupCountyKYFreecycle/

In the last year, the Freecycle Network (tm) has expanded like wildfire throughout the world. Today, there are over 2,000 groups worldwide and over 700,000 families!

Lester Wright, BoydCountyKYfreecycle
