Looks like you have issues with the motor installation.-------Is this a 25" transom cut down for a 20" motor ?------Sure does not look correct to me !!

No its just the way i designed my transom i wanted a higher sides than 20" as u can see but i needed the 20" cut out to fit the engine and make sure i had turning clearance, can u imagine how much water would have came over the back had i gone the 20" height right across the back? Ahuh lucky i made the sides higher because this boat will be a offshore vessel

And yes its 20" transom the cavitation plate is inline with the hulls V

The engines problem was the alternator wasnt earthed to the hull, stay tuned for next weeks remaiden video

Post video of transom / steering / midsection area.------Post a video with motor going in reverse at some speed above idle.----Or slowing down quickly from full throttle.----I say you need at least a 25" motor or even a 30" motor on this ----" free boat "

I just looked at your latest video.----No time to look at this saga.-----Perhaps your local Coast Guard should be asked for their opinion !!

My opinion is, you could raise that motor up quite a bit. Looks like it's drowning. Maybe you could find a jackplate and experiment with it. Get it as high as you can, till it starts to blow out when trying to plane out. Seeing you have such a large splash well, that'll help with the water coming in. I'll say, it does look to be sitting low in the back.

After studying this situation, you should have made it a 25" transom, got a 25" motor and mounted it as high as possible. You go out in blue water with it like that and you'll be swimming.

Big G I think what they are trying to say is that the Motor is way too low in the water. Your transom cut out in addition to the low motor is going to cause you a wash out in following seas and your motor will drown. The cavitation plate is correct. Shaft, motor, transom need redo.

Get the local Coast Guard or Marine Rescue organization to have a look at your boat floating.-----Full load of fuel , passengers and fishing gear.-----No need to trust us folks here !

I guess it you set it and forget it that could be the case. However, you test drive paying attention to water flow and temp. I'm running a 90 on my commercial 16' x 48" and it's running in the second to last hole. I ran it in the last hole and liked how little spray I got, but prop would suck air if I got down on it with just me me in the boat when coming out of the hole. Never had a problem with cooling in any of the positions. I realize not all setups are the same, but this is why we experiment and optimize our setups. As is, that powerhead is too close to the water and since the transom is already cut short you got to try and improvise.

I thought this boat was never going to leave Sydney Harbour...thats what you had said early in the rebuild.
It looks like it will take a lot of water over the bum even in a lake or river let alone " offshore "

Have a look at what has happened here in Tas in the last few days.
17 ft Caribean half cab with 3 POB, one a woman, good conditions when they went out.
Found two bodies so far, still looking for the third.

Your boat looks like it needs more work.
I'm a VMR member too.
