I find it funny that when the french were attacked they retaliated............suprising since as I see it they most always have someone else fight their battles, and then call their saviours names. Ihow is it ok for them to defend themselves and when we did it we are warmongers?

By PARFAIT KOUASSI, Associated Press Writer

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast - Warplanes bombed French peacekeepers Saturday, killing eight French soldiers and an American, officials said, prompting a French counterstrike in a standoff that threatened to escalate Ivory Coast's renewed civil war.

After the French retaliation, pro-government mobs tried to storm a French military base near in the country's commercial center, Abidjan, witnesses said. French troops fired in the air and lobbed tear gas at the crowd.

The violence threatened to drag French and U.N. peacekeepers into the civil war that hard-line military commanders re-launched on Thursday, launching airstrikes on rebel-held positions in the north and breaking a cease-fire that had held for more than a year.

France sent three Mirage fighter jets to West Africa in response, and French President Jacques Chirac said he orderd the deployment of two more military companies to Ivory Coast.

The way to deal with the French is to ignore them. They are a lost cause, ruled by a socialist controled government with zero morals. Let them eat cake.

But if we're gonna get offended at some avatars, it does seem pretty strange to be happy with this one. oh well...

I really agree that we should have as little poofing as possible.

To get there we need more members to "get it" about iboats rules.

I realise that I'm risking my life by posting this opinion...but here's how the French's little "hoo-haa" is perceived over here.....

The Ivory Coast guys broke a ceasefire agreement so the French are perfectly entitled to retaliate. The UN issued a statement to that effect. A reasonable and legal response to a clear threat. Vive la France!-they are clearly a country with respect for other nations and international law.
Their methods of operation speak volumes....they used tear gas and fired in the air to break up the mobs. Cluster-bombs would probably have been used by the US :)

Re: France the war mongers

Lets see Saddam tried to assainate our prez......we waged war gave them a ultimatum they refused..........9/11 need I say more bout that.........we may not of had a cease fire with this scum but they started it and if the French had any ummmmm...... gumpshun they would take care of bussiness.........If it wasnt for whining crybaby pacifists we wouldnt be dealing with that *issant city fuluga s/p? now, it would been handled last spring but no we withdrawled and now more of our troops die........war is bad bussiness, its harsh and sad, but if you dont take care of it the right way you pay down the line.....France accomplished nothing except prolonging having to deal with this later or getting more of their troops killed. By the way how many chances have we given our enemies......how many warnings have been givin out over the last month and oh ya rudderman we are supposed to be under a cease fire in Iraq, our enemies are attacking us.

Umm, that would be France. Now for your question, in the time since Napoleon more or less killed off the cream of France, what war has France fought that did not require allies to win, end in Frances defeat, or require allies to invade and save their sorry pompous butts?

Re: France the war mongers

So what do you call it when years ago the Irish Republican Army killed their own in the streets......colateral damage?
__________________________________________________
Let see...Embasys blown up, citizens killed, ships blown up, and on and on. But when they took down the twin towers that was the last straw.
