Here is the two sheets
the one on the left has more potential combos other one is just the combos available with the kit. The kit covers all of the shaded area which is most of the combos.

I was thinking number 12 would be the set up to try.
Yes it would but trick reading plugs is trying to figure out when its is in cruise (step up rod down) vs power (step up rod up/out) and immediately reading the plugs after a few minutes in each phase.

I'm thinking this is voodoo on a boat. Much more difficult than it seems to do it right. I had a discussion with Edelbrock tech a few years ago about tuning. Real tough to see if you've got the secondaries jetted correctly--in a car you do wot runs with fewer variables. Springs/rods are tough as well because there isn't a lot of part throttle/part vacuum conditions. Scott, did you measure your a/f on both banks?

Its not voodoo, just takes a lot of time doing it over years to get good. Would assume you can use a vacuum gauge to see when it goes rich/lean ( i think stock springs are 7') and read plugs after runs on either side of this or use afr meter at diff rpms...

just one side, same when I had the sensor on my GTO.

The meter makes it easier to see all those variables for sure.

I found it helpful as I had a lean spot after hitting the throttle due to slop in accelerator pump circuit then I was too fat on the step up rods.

I assume you have log not center riser exhaust manifolds? Not sure if these 02 adapters will fit your manifold and elbow configuration. https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-104396-o2-spacer-stock-mercury-riser.aspx

I think your plugs are fine where they are at. I also got similar comments on the dry porcelain being too lean... so I fattened things up. Still had a stumble, added the AFR meter and found I was way rich at cruise and wot, just had an initial lean spot from accel pump....

Corrected the slop in the accelerator pump linkage and basically went back to factory jetting/step up rods on the edlebrock 1409. Found it basically was set up well out of the box. Did you go with a edlebrock or other carb? If eddy this manual is very helpful https://www.edelbrock.com/media/wysiwyg/documents/carb-owners-manual.pdf
I'm still getting the accelerator bog and pump rod is tight. I went to the heaviest spring wich is 8. Any suggestions

So what did u try so far? Moved the accelerator pump rod to closest hole to carb body ( largest shot) and tried the heaviest spring ( goes rich sooner)?
this implys too much fuel. Would swap a lighter spring in like the yellow to see if going rich on the step up rods later is an improvement

is this tumble just when u mash the gas off idle ? Nit sure where your idle mix screw are set, i found where i git the best idle was really lean so i fattened up the idle mix a hair seemed to help a touch smoothing the transition.

would try these things one at a time and see where it leads you (and maybe try the pump shot lever in different holes unless you did that already)

does it smooth out eventually as you get into higher rpm and on plane ?

I've tried moving the rod to middle hole...I also fattened my idle up a touch as you say...timing is good...when I take off ya until it's about half on plane...wich on my boat is about half throttle maybe a bit more...I haven't just punched it from idle. I slowly ease up until about 2g then hit it faster. Once I'm at about 3 g it's great .my full advance is 32 wot...24• and set at 8...I've ordered different spring to get full advance faster maybe.

Could go a tad richer on the jets
Update...I went up jets and rods and springs as you suggested

Update...I pulled top...set float height...upped my jets with according springs and rods. And set it all back up. Went out today and had no bog issues all day...right up onto plane. Only other I changed was installed self leveling trim tabs...she jumps up and takes off.. grained rpm as well...best day ever (aside from the no sturgeon)

So float was off from the factory ?

It was an almost brand new carb...used 3 times they said. It was spotless and not a mark on it so. Oddly enough though it didn't even smell like gas. Anyways between the 3 things I did it finally fricken worked.

How does this look. This is after I fattened up my jets, metering rods and springs

Out of curiosity what micron fuel filter should I use. Reason I ask is I've been chasing this lean wot slight ping. I installed a 100 micron I believe it was. Perhaps not enough gas getting through?

100 micron is fine. That will catch rocks. The typical spin on filter is about a 20 micron

How many hours on this Engine?

To properly read the Plugs, to see if the Mix at WOT is fine, they would need to be read on the water, right after a WOT run, before any lower speed running can contaminate the Insulator.
What plugs are your running and where on the Heat Chart are they located?
