is the most common repair for a leak down force system to replace the valvebody or are there other places to look as well.. My seloc manual is horrible for this problem

1988 bayliner/trophy 85hp force Engine drops down after about 2 hours from full up position ive read on search posts on here that 80 percent of the time its repaired with the valve body... I attempted to get the valves out of the valvebody by taking the circlips out but the valves are siezed in big time...

any help is greatly appreiciated

Re: force trim pump

lol sorry to laugh at ya but just went through this.... the best way ive found to get the valves out is an exciting and messy way! take out your clips on one side "mine said manual release go figure" and have a buddy hit the up or down switch itll pop out! and so will lots of fluid... there are 3 pieces in there 2 valves ( things that sits on the clips and a middle "shuttle" ...take the valve that pops out and CAREFULLY seperate it.... take care not to damage it too much... replace all the seals you find. I took mine to a hydraulic shop and bought the viton teflon coated ones... works great but regular viton works great too... do the same to the other side and replace opposite of take apart...have fun gettin messy my friend.

"mine said manual release go figure"

It says manual release because the bottom casting was shared with the tilt only system which has a screw which could be turned to manually bleed down the system. I don't know if Chrysler or Force sold the tilt only system but OMC did for both Evinrude and Johnson. I've got one in my driveway.
