When primer hose broke I thought the solenoid was loose but the bolt was tightened all the way and it still moves back and forth clockwise. Is this normal ??

Thanks Jerry, I think I was pretty lucky. Before I noticed the hose broken there was gas all over the motor I mean a lot of gas coming from the carb bowl and leaving a large rainbow in the water. I would like to advise everyone with these primer solenoids on 50 horsepower Force engines to check the 1/8" hoses to the solenoid every now and then

You should be able to hear/feel the click even if it's bad :(
The test is to push the key after unhooking the hose.

You should see fuel squirt from the hose. No fuel? switch hoses around and test again.
