My 1994 Force 50 runs very rich. Is it doable to adjust the carb on my own? It is mixed 50 to 1 now and after shutdown a lot of fuel leaks down exhaust

1690226995085.pngThe only adjustment is the idle mixture screw, #18 in the diagram. A good initial setting is 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated. Can be adjusted from there if necessary. How is the motor running? Some residual fuel coming from the exhaust is normal, especially after idling for a while.....

Thank you, good info. This motor runs great at full speed. But when I lower my trolling plate it loads up real bad. I heard you could go to 60 to 1 with no harm to the motor. But i don't know if that's true

https://forums.iboats.com/threads/s...g-on-a-75-150-chrysler-or-early-force.420505/ This link is in the stickies at the top.....step #8 tells how to adjust the idle mixture screw....good info. If you do a hole shot and the engine accelerates smoothly without sputtering or coughing then it is probably not too rich. As for the 60:1 ratio.....50:1 is recommended. Better to have too much oil than not enough. Extended periods of idling can cause the load up.....a quick high rpm run will usually clear it up.

The above pic shows the float bowl #5.
The bottom of the bowl is a hose barb, after it gets started pinch off the hose and see if that makes a difference??

Thank you jerryjery. You have answered other posts of mine in the past and are greatly appreciated. I am taking the boat to the lake Fri. and will try this.
