Force 50 1991 Won't Go Into Gear

My 50 bhp 1991 force outboard engine won't got into forward gear it has no problems with reverse just forwards PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to iboats trev.

Is the cable moving?
Is the cable still properly attached to the engine?
Is the shift rod moving?
Inspect the cable for splits in the casing along its length.


If you can't find anything wrong, disconnect the cable from the motor.
Now try moving the shift handle to see if the cable is sliding properly.

Try moving the shift rod manually.
You may have to turn the prop with your hand to get it to go into gear.
Do this with the engine OFF.
