force 40 hp spark problem

Last summer had the boat out and ran great till we decided to take night cruise started the motor put in reverse it died and would not restart. I did some checking and had no spark with a spark tester. Found a bad wire on the trigger so replaced it and spark plugs still will not start.

I then installed some spark plugs out of my seadoo they were to long so only screwed them in half way and for some reason it will run with these plugs but not the ones it takes. any ideas??

it is a 1996 force 40hp on a pontoon boat

plugs were too fouled /wet to spark?

clean them and dry them, and try them again.

I put in new plugs and still no spark. now i have no power out of stator to the coils so I think the stator is bad anyone have some specs to test it.
