Force 40 Carburetor Question

I have a force 40 engine (0E062561) with a Tillotson WB110A carburetor. I was taking the carb apart to clean it and noticed something unusual. With the float bowl off and looking straight down the shaft of the main jet, there is a smaller brass tube going through the middle. The tube sticks out about 1/8 in past the screw-in brass jet. What i have doubts about is the brass tube is not centered in middle of the jet, it is slightly bent to one side. It doesn't look like the tube itself is bent, but rather its angle just isn't perfectly perpendicular to the carb so it ends up being angled slighly to one side and touching the edge of the jet as opposed to being positioned perfectly in the center (so that it doesn't touch the edge of the jet). I removed the brass jet and now the brass tub touches the edge of the injet shaft as opposed to being positioned straight down the center. Is this unusual or is it normal?

Re: Force 40 Carburetor Question

Can you post a picture of the carb? As you're describing what you see, the "bent" brass tube sounds perfectly normal, believe that is designed to improve atomization of the fuel at idle if I understand what you are saying correctly...

Re: Force 40 Carburetor Question

What you are describing is the idle metering tube. Yes, it is curved as it travels upward through the carb.

Best bet is to NEVER bother it. Removing it will only bring long hours of pain as you try to get it back into its proper position.

Re: Force 40 Carburetor Question

Here is a picture. Its kinda hard to see but you'll notice the idle metering tube isn't in the center, it leans to one side. From what everyone is say, that is normal so i have no need to fear there being a problem. Thanks everyone!
