My tilt/trim motor is struggling. I open the the plastic cap on the motor and there is no fluid.
My guess is that it is really low.
My question is what do you fill it with - Saw some other posts stating 30w non detergent oil. Looked on West Marine and they have actually tilt and trim fluid - Which is best and or recommend from the board????

Thanks

150??? Year,model,serial#???
I believe they used 2 different pumps.
If it's the prestolite used on the early models???
They used 20 or 30 weight oil.Fill while it's down.
If the oil is red it's powersteering fluid or trim/tilt fluid.
A picture always helps.J

Re: Force 150 Tilt Trim Fluid level

are you opening the reservoir or the top of the trim motor?
best fluid depends on which combination of pump gears, trim motor, and lift rams you have. A picture would help. if factory original parts then year alone is enough.

It is not factory - but installed 4-5 years ago by previous owner.
will get some more info tomorrow - Was going to just fill it with 30w non detergent oil for now...........Thoughts - Good/bad idea???
