Force 125 trim tilt problems?

I am wondering about the contact under the lid of the motor by the brushes. Im not sure what the gap should be on this and do not want to put it back on until I know for sure. If anybody has documentation or advise on this it would be great.

That contact is a bimetallic thermostat. If you keep running the motor at full tilt, it heats up and opens thus shutting off current to the motor. While not using the motor, or when assembling the motor, this should be closed. I don't know if there are any specifications on open gap.
