Hi

I have the above engine in Australia. The serial number on the data plate is 1 208 E91 H (no spaces in model number). When I look up Force on MAXRULES I get as close as 1 201 E91 H. When I look up Chrysler on Maxrules it shows up as 1208xx. Is there a hybrid in the numbers here between Force and Chrysler? I am of the opinion the engine is 1991 making it Force Mercury?

Serial number is 87-1 023863

Can someone please explain and verify make and year?

Paul

Re: Force 120hp Model Number Confusion

I just found H1208E91H on the crowleymarine site. Only difference between this and my data plate is the there is no H on the plate.

Yes, that is correct. You have a 1991 model Force, made by Mercury Marine.

Re: Force 120hp Model Number Confusion

Thanks Roscoe!

The amount of effort I had to go through to find that out was painstaking. I should have just come here first off. I still find the model and serial number confusing based on the the engine data plate and what I was able to find on the net.

I bought it cheap because it has a problem in the gearcase ( a clunking sound) and I wanted to tinker with it in the hope of resurrecting it. That will be the next challenge. The engine itself reportedly runs fine.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Paul

P.s.- If you can put me onto any websites with good info on this product then great, i.e.- other manufacturer parts that can interchange with Force.
