While using my boat. I slowed down and started losing power. Pulled into the dock and I could smell gas. Took the cowling off and found the lower carb. bowel had vibrated off.
What has caused this?

I put it back on fingure tight and headed back to the boat ramp, on pulling in found it off again.

Did not feel excessive vibration while running.

Looking for what could have caused this. Any suggestions.

Prop shows no sign of damage. Had it redone last year,

look for deformed carb body threads. look to make sure the main jet gaskets are in place.
some force/chysler carbs used a gasket on both sides of the bowl.

And make sure the bowl gasket is still imbedded in the body. Finger tight isn't enough, put a wrench on it. Check for a damaged prop and/or bent propshaft. They vibrate considerably in the first place, but either of what I mentioned would contribute.

And run a compression test, since it vibrated-off twice. I hate to bear this bad news but there is a good chance the cylinders supplied by that carb are probably trashed by now (No fuel, no lubrication).
If the test comes up good, re-mount the bowl using a small dab of Locktite, or other gas-impervious thread locker.
