Force 120 Engine Power Lift/Trim (1997) Problem

The power engine lift/trim system has worked inconsistently for several years. It will always lower the engine, but raising the engine works only intermittently at best. When engine raise is not working, pushing the control switch still causes the "UP" relay on the engine to click, but nothing else happens. Thinking it could be a weak relay, I replaced it at the end of last season. Everything worked fine after doing so. Then a few weeks ago after lowering the engine to change the lower unit lube, it failed to raise. I tried it a week later and it worked fine again. Yesterday, NOTHING again. I am very frustrated and would like some advice on how to get this fixed once and for all.

Replace the other relay. When one is activated, the other acts as the ground. So the bad relay could be the one that isn't clicking. You can try putting the relay in there you took off, but they wear pretty evenly and tend to fail about the same time.

Replacing the other relay seems to have corrected the problem. A BIG Tennessee thank you to the Admiral!
