thanks guys. not having problems getting big chunks out. just a bear getting out the leftovers and the stuff behind gussets and in tight spots. tried some of your suggestions. the wire wheel doesnt work good. maybe because foam is wet? best power tool for me has been drill with large spade bit. very slow going though. there is alot of foam in this 24' hull. i HATE 2 part foam now.....

Hang in there! Getting the foam out is one of the worst parts of the job. It stinks. (Grinding fiberglass isn't fun either.) After you get it cleaned and can start re-building, it gets a lot easier.

Sometimes you just need to cover it up and walk away for a couple of days... sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and keep at it... find what works for you. Not many of us enjoyed the stuff you're into now.

Good luck!

I love 2 part foam . . . it is wicked strong and adds to a boat's structural strength as well as provides flotation. Wet foam is a real bummer, but is the result of years for exposure to moisture (which usually can be avoided).

Nobody likes taking out foam from a rotted hull . . . It took me 2 weeks to remove the foam & fuel tank out of my 24 foot boat, when I had to repair the structure. However, once the foam is out you will feel like it is all down hill from there. :)

I have a bunch of foam to remove from my boat. Looking for ay tips on this process. So far ive used a square end shovel, wonder bar, hammer and putty knife for tools. Its been a bear of a job. Would appreciate any tips. thanks, mark
I took out my two part foam last year from my 16' sled it was a big job but because I love working on boats I had great satisfaction doing the job myself.
