I have a 18ft ss mid 70s I/O How much foam is needed? Is one brand better than the other? I am putting in a new deck and carpet and putting in underdeck battery case for my trolling motor batteries. Photo's to follow.

Measure the spaces where the foam goes, calculate the cubic feet, then buy the appropriate kit

I hope this helps. I recently did my holiday 18'. I went with Total Boat 2 part (2lb density). The kits come with (2) 1 gallon containers, Part A and Part B. I ended up using 3.5 kits total to do my floor. I wanted a full fill with no gaps and for it to be flush to the bottom of my floor panels for added support. because of this I needed to over fill and trim back which accounted for a good amount of waste.

Let me know if I can help with any more info

There are a bunch of good brands out there so I would just check around and see what people are using. I would be wary of any off brand products though because this is not something you want to have to do more than once. you will want to account for the density of the foam as well. Higher density = more structure, less buoyancy and vice versa. I will say the 2lb stuff in my boat was perfect in my opinion, Its very strong stuff.

I have a thread on here for my project and I know I covered the process with pics and info.

Are you wanting to use rigid foam board or pour in foam?

2# foam references how many pounds per cubic foot of volume

so a 4# kit of 2# foam is 2 cubic feet

a 16# kit is 8 cubic feet of 2# foam

so, measure how much volume you have, then order the size of kit that will fill that volume.
