Re: Floor Rivets

Had to make my aft deck from some lumber I had laying around. Spending the bucks for the right aluminum angle, etc. not in the budget. The added weight of wood is the negative as well as the potential for rot.

I triple coated the framing with KILZ Premium white primer and did use SS screws and bolts. I also think my carpet supplier goofed up. I budgeted for economy 16oz grade and I think they sent the premium stuff??

Funny, on my 2000 Star I purchased 20oz and it is much flimsier than this stuff?

This better backed carpet should help keep the underlying wood drier. The back wall and framing of the aft deck before priming.

The boat after sanding from 40 to 120 grit palm, 3 coats of prime and 2 topcoats to-date.

What the old goat looked like when I picked it up:

What I hope she looks like dolled up with makeup:

I believe this boat was originally red-gray-white per the 79 brochure. I had to remove tons of bad paint. There will be NO RED left on this boat when finished.

The boat also came with 2 real nice WISE Premium lounge seats, way too big for this SS mounted on the best Springfield has to offer on hardware.

I sold the 2 seats minus the hardware for $200. The seats were originally $325 each and were in great shape. The buyer got a deal. I searched Cabelas bargain cave and got 4 of these at $35 each. Not the greatest, but functionable.

Funny, but that picture before being painted and messed with is from the sellers house.

Looking good, and you posted the pics before the mob got formed up. The "old Goat" looked pretty nice when you bought it home.

Don't let the pictures fool you. The exterior has its share of dings, dents, and creases, especially starboard aft. I think the seller used the same crappy dock each vacation that had that one protruding nailhead that kept poking that area?lol:eek:

The interior, except for the 2 aforementioned lounge seats(sold them), was trashed and the floor came apart in 5000 pieces.

The good is a dry hull, a solid engine, and a decent trailer, but I am selling the trailer because I prefer bunks for tinnies and drive-on reasons.

Good looking ?restoration job?. The dents and gouges are part of boating life. After 40 plus years the Last Dollar has it?s share of burses. Besides at ?60mph? who can tell.;)

Picked up an unwanted 4x8 sheet of Formica in a color called black microdot for my dash panels. $8

I only need 1/4 of it unless I mess up the cuts.
