flame arrestor for 88 force 50 hp

Hi, I need a flame arrestor for my 88 force 50 hp...is this an engine specific part or is it more or less universal? Any suggestions on type to get?

Not needed.
Most motors don't have them.
They were not spark arrestors, they were debris guards. some also were set up to catch any fuel that spilled from the carb.

Totally optional item.

Thanks for the quick response But, if I wanted to put one on, which I do; are they universal or would there be one specific to an 88 force 50 hp?

I can't even find them in my parts catalog.

You could try a Mercury dealer and have them search their parts data base.
