Fixing trim gauge

Hey all, my boat trims up and down fine, the gauge just doesn't work, i replaced all gauges and all my gauge work except this, I have checked the wiring and that's not the issue.

I am doing some outdrive work so it seems like a perfect time to replace my trim sender, could this lead to the gauge not working?

So I bought new senders for my alpha 1 gen 2. The limit sender works fine however my position sender makes my trim gauge peg either 100% up or down. So I thought to myself the new sender is bad, knowing that its nothing more than a rheostat I figure I could disconnect the leads from the pump...

Also check the short ground screw on the sender isn't cut or corroded.

Do you have any pics, I just picked up a 1991 Rinker Captiva 206 and the trim gauge is inop. Thanks in advance
