Hi - I need to fix a fiberglass hole around the tiller of my boat. I have 39 yr old sailboat and the tiller has begun to erode away the fiberglass that keeps it mounted in the cockpit. This has created a 3-4" hole all around the tiller, so when I steer the tiller tilts dramatically from left to right, which makes steering very difficult.
Does anyone I have any suggestions on how to fix this while the boat is still in the water? A little water gets in the hole so I can't put epoxy in as it won't dry. I was thinking of filling the hole with woodchips to absorb the water and then use put a hardening foam in on tope of that.
thanks!
