Trying to figure out where to mount the transducer. The old one I have now is mounted on the trolling motor but it doesnt have the features of the new one. New one is the Humminbird 597ci with gps/chartplotter, DI and switch fire. I would like to mount it in the bow so I can look at it while Iam fishing and put the transducer on the trolling motor but Iam not sure if that would affect the gps and chart plotting. Any suggestions?

Re: fishfinder install

The transducer mounting location will have no effect on the performance of the GPS/chartplotter.

Re: fishfinder install

It depends what you demand of your fishfinder. I have a 597ci and I have the transducer mounted on the transom. I depend on mine for info. when trolling/downrigging, so it wouldn't help me much if attached to the trolling motor. I'm mounting an older 565 to my trolling motor for the bass fishing part of my day. You'll like the 597. Hope this helps.
