Hello all I ust finally got around to starting my own thread here cus I no how much you all love seeing pics of boats!!!:D Mines not as pretty as sum but it will do. Its a 1984 17.5' monark SF the boat is rated for 115 hp but there is a 1974 merc 1500 hanging off the back. And because of the extra horsepower I am going to rebuilding everything on this boat! The trasom is rotted and I got a gud buddy who builds fiberglass classic car bodies that cant waite to get started:D All the wiring has been ripped out and gunna be replaced, got a lot of work and cant waite to get started! So as promised heres the pics:)

Monark you can actually resize your pictures on photo bucket to fit within the forum guidelines . The tilt and trim someone else will chime in on :D.

WOW

That is an awesome hull design and layout!

I like how its a "bowrider" but it has a casting deck up front, and the consoles are set further back, really very interesting and unique, I don't think i have ever seen one quite like it!

Makes me want to go cut mine back apart! LOL JK

But seriously, nice find, and have fun with it!

Lifting the ap off this boat is guna be fun. If you look at the pictures everything inside the boat is one piece i mean lifting the cap every thing will com out but the hull, im sure its guna be heavy! Any advice on how to go about this? Any threads come to mind that have the same type of desin you could recommend?

Best way I found to remove a cap, takes 4 people... (I am sure there are other methods out there), but this was safe and easy...

Set up your saw horses or whatever you will be setting the cap on.

Once you have the cap completely loose, take 2 - 2x4's and slide them underneath the cap, between the cap and the hull, one near the front, one near the back, then have someone (of the 4), each grab a 2x4 end, and lift the cap up and walk it off the boat (either front or back).

Then you can walk it over to your stand, and you're all set.

Hope that helps!

Re: First boat! '85 monark

Monark,

We have twin boats-same color and all! We bought our boat just over a year or so ago and it is a great boat by far! And you got a really good price on it as well...if it wasn't my father in laws old boat with memories intact we would never of paid what we did for ours. :rolleyes:My wife's father used to own this boat and sold it about 9 years ago. He tried to buy it back right before he passed away but the guy did not want to sell it. About 3 months after he died my wife got a call and we bought it. You will love it. We are trying to work out a few kinks here and there but the boat has been pretty sound. This model I am finding is very rare since I can't seem to find alot of information on it. Hopefully we can exchange info and as new boat owners learn a few things or two.
