First and new project

Hello my name is Ryan im from Indianapolis, IN and im a big duck hunter and decided to get a open water big water duck boat project my project is a:
1960 starcraft 18'
motor is a mercury reband 1967 1250 125

The floor is rotted and the transom is also
The motor has a small leak in the lower carb

I'm plannin on ripping the floor and the transom out this week

the transom is where i will start its a 1 1/2 inches thick and i plane on cutting two 3/4 in plywood boards
that im buying from a marine store.

But once i cut them i dont know where to go so i plan on asking for help and getting a picture by picture setup under this thread for my boat because alot of the information i have learned is from iboat!!!

Well so my question and your input is needed starting with the transom!!!!

Hi Ryan, looks like I am a couple of steps ahead of you and asking some similar questions. Before getting into making the transom board you might want to pull the seats and floor and see what you have under there. Once you have opened everything up it should be easier to get at the transom wood.

As for the transom, I took the advise of the group and glued the pieces of marine grade plywood with Titebond III. This week I will be applying epoxy for the sealer. If you look onto my thread you will find the step by step directions that was shared with me.

I had a 71 SuperSport a few years back and was a great boat.... Looks like yours is a similar design.

Well i was going to start on the boat today but instead started on a smaller boat and got a 1965 seaking 6h.p. motor started that was exciting!!!! But will document everything!!!
