aloha - we own a 19' Larsen and would like to know how many gallons of gas it would take to go from Oahu to Molokai? Approximately 30 nautical miles in distance.

Need more info. Like size of motor and weather you have tabs.....

Fuel mileage is very dependent on weather and sea conditions. The rule is 1/3 fuel to go out, 1/3 fuel to come home, and 1/3 fuel in reserve. We can give you a gross fuel use figure. Figure your motor's HP divided by 10 gal/hour. So if you have a 90HP motor, and you can cruise at 30 MPH, you will use 9 gallons in one hour to make the crossing. Be sure to take 27 gallons with you for round trip.
