I am not going to do this but I have to wonder!

You ever see the black material used in gardening to keep weeds out?
The type that is made out of fiberglass! (You know where I?m going now.)

Would that work in fiberglassing anything? Not just boats but like to fiberglass a wooden box or anything used in a hobby or arts and craft type of stuff.

Re: fiberglass question

sounds like a fun experiment. if the resin sticks, i don't see why it would be any different than really light-weight cloth.

Re: fiberglass question

Thats not fiberglass. It is a plastic cloth very similar to the blue tarp plastic....... trim off a small piece and light a match to it and it burns and drips like plastic. Fiberglass cloth will not. It's polypropylene.

Interesting thought, so I went out to try it ans it does not burn at all.

And it looks like FG

Re: fiberglass question

One way to find out,,,,,rub it on your body and if you get a serious need to itch,,,,,then it must be fiberglass :D I'm just a bit concerned on the black dye/colorant that may cause some bonding issues.

Re: fiberglass question

i fiberglassed a shirt one time. It got hard as a rock, just like fiberglass.
It is more the resin that makes fiberglass, than the material you put it on.
