only my 2nd post but you guys were GREAT first so hopefully someone can come thru as i haven't found anything online.... i have a J16 Carolina skiff and on the front edge/corner starboard (passenger side in my lingo) is pretty badly damaged (could be worse) and im trying to determine the best method of repairing it. i know i will probably need to cut a good bit out and
If i was good enough with Cad i would draw up the underside to use a mold/form and 3d print it for the glass to form to... but cad skills are limited... so is glass work but i think i can handle it..... any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated

Looks like its pretty close to the center of the radius... are you able to use the other side as plug for a mold? spray it with PVA and layup a couple layers of glass, pop it off, and stick it on this side?

If not, your probably going to just have to use some tape as backing and layup lots of glass and do lots of sanding/shaping/fairing. All depends on how good you want it to look.

that would give me a starting point i guess but due to the side tapering before the radius and the front doesn't have the taper it only the arc itself and even then probably wouldnt fit to well.

i am more worried about it being sound then it matching the rest of the boat.
ive thought about using some 316L tig rod/filler metal i have to make a skeleton and use west system 650 or 610 epoxy and fill it in, build it up and coat the entire corner and calling it done... as long as the rub rail goes back on im flexible.
