Fiber Optic Connector Width for Drill Size

Later this week I'm getting fiber installed to my house for internet.
To save time for the installer and myself I want to pre drill the holes in my floors where I think I may want the cable at some point.
I know it uses an SC connector and I believe it's green if that means anything.
Does anyone know the width of the connector so I can drill the right size hole?
I think it may have a protective cap or something to protect it while pulling that would make it a but wider than the connector itself.

Look forward to hearing this as well

My buddy had fiber installed in hi log cabin a couple years ago, I'm still waiting. He said they wanted the box mounted to be just inside where the cable comes in.

I didn't ask him what size holes as he didn't drill. It was my understanding as the cable comes in the house and then the connector is installed on cable, so just need for cable only

He also just let everything thing else run off Wifi so no more cable runs

The modem I'm getting has a fiber input and 4 gigabit ethernet ports as well as wifi 6.
If I mount it in the basement I'll need an access point to get wifi to the 2nd floor.
If they run the fiber to the main floor I don't think I'll need an access point.

Saw an installer working up a pole down the lane from me so asked him.
He said about the same size as an RJ45 connector.
I know a 9/16" hole works for the snag free RJ45's so I'll try it.
I guess I'll know for sure on Friday!

Depends on the specific type connector they choose to use

The connectors we use on our ST multi-mode fiber are 10 mm diameter

If it's like our FIOS system there is a fiber to cable/ethernet adapter and back up power supply module (UPS) mounted on the wall in the garage.

Don't have cable (no modem) so I have Cat 5 running from the fiber adapter in the garage to the router in the house

Call the contractor and ask?
That's a good idea and I already tried that.
The "contractor" is Bell. Try finding the right person there.
I called tech support and the guy did what I did. Started googling.
Anyway, I did talk to a tech in my lane. We'll see what happens.

LOL, good luck, if i ask a contractor, how are you going to run wires and the answer was, we don't know, we'll let you know. i would get a different contractor.

BTW, if you think your going to save money by doing work beforehand, your not. SIT BACK, let them do everything and have a beer. their price is already set.

Finally remembered to get back with info on this.
Install went well. Took about 1.5 hours.
Guy ran a fibre cable from the pole in my lane to the house and terminated it in a wall mount box.
The SC/APC connector ends for the fibre extension cable that runs from the termination box to the modem are 9mm or .354" wide.
I had pre-drilled 1/4 holes where I wanted the cable to run so used a 13/32" bit for the final size.

Here's some pictures.
