In Oklahoma City the best lures for smallmouth and largemouth bass is the Zoom pumpkin chartruese and chartruese pepperseed lizards.

For trout fishing I use a Mepps #1 gold with the red plastic on the treble on sunny days and #1 silver Mepps on cloudy days when using spining gear.

When fly fishing I use gold ribbed hares ear or small black woolybuggers.

Re: Favorite Lures for favorite fish's

My favorite fish is catfish. Here in my part we have lots of Channel and Flat Head. I also like going after Crappie and White Bass in the spring. For the cats I like livers and Dough Bait and Nightcrawlers. For Crappie, if I fish from a still point I use an assortment of jigs that I have had for a few years. The jigs are made by Mann I believe My fave is yellow with a small hackle of black hair streamers. If I troll I like my assortment of Rapala deep running plugs. The Crappie and White Bass really tear them up. My fave is a brown plug with light green stripes around it. It's actually a nasty looking plug but the fish sure do love it. No one lure works under all conditions. Water clarity, lake levels, time of the year, time of the day all plays into the effectiveness. If I was limited to one single lure I guess I would go with an old rooster tail I've been fortunate not to lose over the years. It's a fair lure to entice several different species of fish with. It is a silver spoon on a black body with orange stripes with brown tail hairs. I have long forgotten (if I ever paid attention and knew) what brand it is but I have found a Mans Bait Co. lure that comes close to matching it.
