Fault codes for 2006 Mercruiser

Driving out of state tomorrow to look at a 2006 Sea Ray 290 SS with twin 5.0 Mercs. I am familiar with using the paperclip jumper and diode to get codes from a 1998 motor, wondering if I can do the same with a 2006 motor?

No, it has a 555 PCM and needs a scanner to get anything from the motor, unless it has smartcarft monitor. If it has smartcraft then some info can be seen, but not necessarily all

that Sea ray will have smartcraft. Not sure what info you want, but if it has a current unresolved issue you will know it when sea trialing it. You can get quite a bit of info from it just by scrolling through

What info can be taken from the smartcraft gauge? Does it flash fault codes?

No, flashing does not occur, it displays faults codes in menu's
