Really depends on what you consider 'fast' and 'Cheap'. But as a rule(with exceptions of course), I do agree with you.

My 77 70hp Johnson starts and runs great and does 33mph all for $900 total spent on the boat/motor/trailer/etc

Plenty fast and plenty cheap for me....

Of course, this was from a high school friend of mine and got the 'friend' deal. Comparable boats on craigslist right now are going for $2500-3500 but i have no idea if they're selling or not.

In my line of work (Information Technology) "pick any 2" is practically biblical. I'm sure the concept applies all over the place.

Yeah I think so Ted. I was just listening to someone bable about making their honda faster with a turbo, and wanted to cut corners. Just figured Id see what the boating boys had to say about this concept.
