I wear my HF $1.99 yellow safety glasses for most of my outside work. The boys made fun of me when I first got them but after trying them on they each went out and bought them in all 3 colors. I saw ones just like them with magnification at Walmart a year ago but I don't know if they still carry them.

I have another set of glasses I got at Lowes, that have a +2 diopter in them, so when I need to work close up I can read instructions or plans for milling work.

Could always get some quality sunglasses from an eye glass place. And you can get whatever you like doing that. I buy the el cheapo versions. But I am thinking about getting some quality types because the el cheapo versions don't last long and break just above the nose section where it started into the lens all the time. But plastic is bound to do that. JMHO

When all is said and done, I am going to have a set of lenses made up for my old frames that I wore with the +2 diopter for reading and I will get a good pair of sunglasses to use when I am driving and shooting. For both sets I want something that is coated to help prevent scratches and possibly UV coating.

Of course I do a lot of soldering, especially lately. And I use some Walmart reading glasses when I solder for two reasons. First, to actually see what I am doing. The reading glasses are +2.5 (I think). And secondly, I need some type protection from possible solder splatter. Since they actually are glass, any splatter will protect the eyes.

I see so many people online and TV that solder without any eye protection. I cringe seeing that knowing how easy it is for one tiny speck of solder to pop into your eye and that is going to ruin that eye. If you were caught soldering without eye protection, when I was still working, your got wrote up and that was never ever a good thing. I have had solder pop before and landed right in the middle of the safety glasses. Wow that could have been a serious issue.

Almost all safety glass are also UV protected. But if I buy anything other then safety glasses, there too will be UV protected. Only get one set of eyes!

I still have a divet in my right eye where they dug a hot piece of galvanized metal out of my eye many years ago, it is not and experience I would recommend to anyone.
