Help.....I paddled a duck boat 45 years ago. That was as close as I have come to being a boat owner...till today. I bought a Starcraft V150 Deluxe from a young guy, but he didn't have a title. In order to get a title, I need to know the year and neither of us do. The serial number is on a tag beside the steering column with 041061. Is this a 61? It looks newer than that to me, but I know nothing about boats, so maybe it is. Is there anywhere with pictures of boats this vintage that I could look at and compare? It has a 55 Chrysler engine,,,don't know if that runs or not, but it turns over. Any help on the year and indentification would sure be appreciated. Thanks,,,Highpockets.

Welcome to iboats!

Sounds like you've got it figured out;). My boat is a '92, and the last two digits of the serial number are 92. There are several boatmakers out there whose hull designs look ahead of their time. There are many boat owners who maintain their boats so well, that it may be hard to believe the actual age of the boat. I did a quick google search on your boat. I didn't come up with any photos, but I did find that your boat was indeed available in 1961. Keep at it, though, you'll come up with pictures. Someone else on this forum will probably be able to help you out with that. Anyway... Congratulations on the boat!!! This forum is a wealth of information. Take a boater safety course.

Safe and happy boating always!!!

The boat might be pre-73, so the rules of thumb may not apply...
You may not need a title either,...

Has the boat been registered in your State before? If so, go to the Probate Office or where ever you buy the tags. They should have all the information. Hopefully you'll get a clerk in a good mood ;)
