Extra Wires?

I got a 2002 Mercury 125 and am in the process of installing it
I bought a new controller Quicksilver 881170A20
The directions covered the cable installation and showed the plug for the tach but there are 4 "loose" wires on each end of the harness
The direction never even showed them let alone explained what they are for
Are they for overheat alarm?
Low oil alarm?
If so which is which and why didn't they show them in the book?
If not, where are the alarms supposed to go?
Any help would be appreciated, I got the thing on e-Bay and the seller was no help

If one is blue and another green then they are all for power trim/tilt

hey, crow blue n white trim up green n white is trim down, tan wire is temp, and the brown n white is the the trim gauge.

Thanks guys,
I'm looking at the helm end
red, tan, blue and green
There's also a 5 pin plug that the directions did mention as being for the tach
But the other 4 never even existed according to the directions.....?
