Motor in signature. The insulation on my shift wires is mucked up a bit above the lower unit. I believe that replacing is very $$$ due to limited availability and I don't want to have to open up the gearcase again if possible.
What are some ideas to repair this? Can I just repair that area alone? Or should I cut the wires and replace from the damaged area all the way up to the connectors at the top?
I'm thinking of using a 3M epoxy that I bought for another repair. Somebody here on the forums suggested it to repair the forward drive coil. However, the 3M product will make the wire harness stiff in that one particular area. Would that be a problem? Thanks.
